Fourth Annual Town & Country Garden Tour A Bountiful Success!
More than 400 people attended the fourth annual Town & Country Garden Tour: Beauty, Blooms & Bounty in Cottage Grove. The self-guided tour of 12 gardens was a benefit for South Lane Mental Health, a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive mental health services for residents of the greater Cottage Grove area.
Tour visitors came from far and wide, with nearly half from beyond Cottage Grove, including from: Brownsville, Creswell, Coos Bay, Drain, Eugene, Junction City, Keizer, Lorane, Monroe, Pleasant Hill, Reedsport, Riddle, Roseburg, South Beach, Springfield, Veneta, and Yoncalla. Out-of-state visitors came from California, New Mexico, and Washington.
“The Town & Country Garden Tour is such a unique event. Since nearly half of the guests are from out of town, it’s a perfect way to welcome visitors to our community while also supporting a good cause,” said Cathy Bellavita, South Lane Mental Health Board Vice President and a Tour organizer. “The friendliness of the volunteers and the willingness of the hosts to share their beautiful gardens is what makes this event so special and successful. We are thankful to everyone, including our loyal sponsors, for their continued support.”
All proceeds from the garden tour help South Lane Mental Health provide treatment for those without insurance who need mental health support and services.
The Cottage Grove Garden Tour organizing committee is calling for nominations for gardens for next summer’s tour, scheduled for Saturday, July 13, 2013. Garden nominations can be emailed to info@cottagegrovegardentour.org.
